President Don W. Kassing has joined the Chamber of Commerce board of directors, one of nine new members who will "add a fresh perspective to the chamber's governing body and great energy to the policy-making process," said Terry Austen, new chair for 2006.

Provost Carmen Sigler has been named a trustee of the Montalvo Arts Center, serving on the executive committee. This is the second year that Sigler has served on the board of the center.

Martin Schulter, director of the Disability Resource Center, was recently elected as the new chairperson for the VTA Citizens Advisory Committee, which is one of a few committees advising the VTA Board. The CAC, which consists of 17 members representing business, labor, environmental, and other community groups with interest in transportation, will serve as the oversight body for the Measure A Transit Sales Tax Program.

Shawn Bibb is now serving as associate vice president for administrative systems and finance. Previously, Bibb served as interim AVP.

Following a nationwide search, Richard C. Kelley has been named director of Student Life and Leadership. Kelley comes to SJSU from Washington State University, where he served as the director of campus involvement.
