SAN JOSE, Calif., -- San José State University has named SJSU alumnus Don Beall as the recipient of its 2008 Tower Award. The Tower Award is SJSU's highest honor, bestowed upon an alumnus or friend of the university whose exemplary community or professional leadership has positively impacted education and society as a whole. Beall will be the guest of honor at the 38th Annual Tower Award dinner on Thursday, October 23.
"SJSU is pleased to present Don Beall with this award in recognition of his many contributions to the university," said SJSU President Jon Whitmore. "Don believes strongly in the value of engineering and science education, which are crucial to the innovation and entrepreneurial process that leads to a stronger America, and he has generously supported San José State's engineering college."
In 2007, Beall made a $4 million gift establishing the Don Beall Dean of Engineering, San José State's first named deanship. The gift provides Dean Belle Wei and future deans of the Charles W.
