Bio

Diana Zamudio-Garcia is a self-identified Chicana, and her pronouns are she/her/hers/ella. Her hometowns are a ranchito in Michoacan, Mexico and the city of  Salinas, California.

Diana is a scholar artivist who writes poetry and creates arte working in the service of her community, as an ethical and critical thinking educator in our multicultural and increasingly interconnected global society. As the first in her family to attend a university she has gained powerful knowledge and training to enable her to elaborate a pedagogical approach in life that uses Chicanx studies, identity-centered practices, and culturally inclusive epistemologies to address pressing issues in marginalized and systematically oppressed communities.

Her very own identities and lived experiences as a first-generation university graduate and as an embodied working-class Chicana with a disability, have allowed her to experience situations that make more attuned to thinking about issues regarding disability, demonstrating sensitivity and comprehension to the needs of diverse intersectionalities, and advocate for the community.
