Bio

Emmanuel J. Watkins has actively serve others for over 15 years in the nonprofit and education sectors. 

Emmanuel is a college professor (Lecturer) and teaches for the Department of African American Studies at San Jose State University. In this role, he designs an interactive learning experience for the enrichment of his students, Department, and University community. Piror to transitioning into a faculty role, he served in college admissions and recruitment for nearly a decade, recruiting students for undergraduate and graduate programs. In addition to his roles in higher education, he served as a high school English teacher.

He holds a B.A. in African and African American Studies with a minor in Communication from Berea College (Berea, KY) and a M.A. in Education from the University of the Incarnate Word (San Antonio, TX). He is currently earning a PhD in Instructional Leadership with a concentration in Social and Cultural Studies at The University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa, AL).
