Bio
Dr. Tan has been an entrepreneur most part of her career. She has coached many startup companies both in Silicon Valley and East Asia in the past 30 years.
In the early years, she started her own company with partners in Silicon Valley working on Speech Recognition technology in medical transcription field and was granted by NIH to innovate and produce dictation products for radiologists to transcribe their medical records. She also marketed the products in Asia.
In the recent years, Dr. Tan worked with Professor Michael Porter on projects in national competitiveness. She has been teaching Microeconomics of Competitiveness (MOC) workshops and holding annual conferences. Meanwhile, she has been participating in the network of the Porter's Institute to research strategy and competitiveness in alliance with other international researchers.
Her earlier technical contribution included a patent, System and method for generating database input forms.
