Bio
Maureen Smith received her BA in Psychology, with a minor in Human Development, from UC Davis in 1988 and her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from Cornell University in 1994. Her research interests are in children's social and emotional development and factors that influence that development (e.g., foster care placement). Her current line of research is the role of imagination in many facets of children's and young adults' lives. Maureen is also a member of the Research Institute for Foster Youth Initiative and is investigating various aspects of youth's experiences in the juvenile justice system.
