Bio
Dr. Rosemary Henze is an educational anthropologist whose teaching, research, and educational projects seek to enhance social justice and equity in education. She applies concepts and methods from anthropology and linguistics to the study of race relations, immigration and multilingualism, Islamophobia, the spread of English, among other topics. Recent publications include How real is race? A sourcebook on race, culture, and biology,2nd Edition (with Mukhopadhyay and Moses), Alta Mira Press 2014; and English for what? Rural Nicaraguan teachers’ local responses to national educational policy (with Fabio Coelho), Language Policy (2014). Between 2012-2014, she served as President of the Council on Anthropology and Education. Her additional languages include Greek, French, and some Spanish.
