Bio
Dr. Saptarshi Sengupta is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at San José State University (CSU - San José) and a computational scientist working at the intersection of Resilient Cyber Physical Systems and Machine Learning. At SJSU he leads the Machine Intelligence and Complex Systems (MICoSys) lab in the CS Department. His work looks at the integration and statistical analyses of machine learning and nature-inspired computing in complex systems for simulated and real-world environments.
In 2023, Dr. Sengupta was classified as an 'Alien of Extraordinary Ability' (colloquially known as the 'Einstein visa') by the United States Citizenship and
Immigration Services (USCIS) for demonstrating extraordinary ability in the sciences
through sustained international acclaim. Dr. Sengupta has won numerous accolades,
including several best paper awards in international conferences and his work has
led to the distinguished 'Dr. T.M.A. Pai Gold Medal Award' for outstanding research
contributions in healthcare AI. Dr. Sengupta is a member of the IEEE and of Sigma
Xi.
