Bio
Yoko Baba is full professor and the chair of the sociology department. She has been teaching in the department since 1990. She regularly teaches criminology, victimology, the prison community, youth offender, graduate seminars in Advanced Criminology and Deviance and Social Control, and the graduate-level Research Methods course. Her areas of research interests include domestic violence and youth violence, and her recent research interest is to study Japanese-Brazilian transmigrants in Japan. During AY 2002-2003, she examined domestic violence offenders at Japanese Justice Ministry's Research and Training Institute in Japan, completed the analyses, and translated the report (the title of the report is "Study Concerning Perpetrators of Domestic violence (DV) in Japan") into English. Some of the recent co-authored articles were published in Journal of Ethnic and Cultural Diversity in Social Work, Journal of Sociology and Social Welfare, Free Inquiry in Creative Sociology, Journal of College Student Development and The Journal of Gang Research.
