Biography
Simon Shim is a professor and chair of the Applied Data Science Department at San Jose State University. He was on the editorial board of IEEE Computer for 10 years. He worked as a director at SAP Labs in Palo Alto, CA, USA. He was a guest editor for several special issues of IEEE Computer. He has published more than 50 papers in journals and conferences. He has co-authored two published technical book. He received a PhD in computer science from the University of Minnesota. His current research areas include LLMs, machine learning, deep learning, and database management. He has served as a co-chair of IEEE Big Data Services and several workshops.
