Undergraduate Advising

All CME undergraduate students must see their Academic Advisor every semester before registering. Advising periods begin a few weeks before registration. Information about Advising and about Departmental events is communicated through the departmental Google Groups. All CME students are encouraged to join the appropriate Google Group.

If the student is interested in changing to CME, they should note the following. If the student is in COE and has less than 60 units, or if they are not in COE and irrespective of the number of units completed, they have to meet with a Change of Major advisor in the Engineering Student Success Center (ESSC) to see what is possible. Their appointment availability is shown here https://www.sjsu.edu/essc/ and includes in person, drop-in and Zoom. Only after that meeting, they can contact the department advisor listed below. If the student is in COE and has more than 60 units, they should contact the advisor listed below to determine if they can be accepted.

Undergraduates need to bring a copy of all transcripts from other colleges attended the first time they see an advisor. (Yes, even though you already had your transcripts mailed to the University, you still need to bring in an unofficial copy to your advisor.) You will not be allowed to register if we do not have a copy of your transfer transcripts on file in the departmental office.
