Dear campus community,

I hope you will be able to attend the SJSU Adapt Town Hall this afternoon from 2:15 - 3:30 p.m. We will address the CSU’s vaccination policy and SJSU’s implementation of the policy, how the Delta variant has affected the mask policy and campus repopulation, and additional questions the campus community has. You must register to attend and can submit questions in advance. The town hall will be recorded and accessible on the SJSU Adapt website

SJSU compliance measures regarding CSU vaccination policy

Ahead of the town hall, I wanted to provide additional information regarding enforcement of the CSU’s vaccination policy. As a reminder, the policy states that students, faculty and staff must be fully vaccinated by September 30 against COVID-19 if they are accessing campus facilities at any university location across the 23 campuses.

To be fully vaccinated by September 30 to comply with the requirement, you must get your final dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines, or the only dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, by September 16. If you choose to receive the Moderna vaccine, you must get your first dose by August 19. If you choose to receive the Pfizer vaccine, you must get your first dose by August 26.

If you do not verify that you are fully vaccinated by September 30:

  • Students: You may have your on-campus courses dropped and your access to campus facilities eliminated. You could also be subject to disciplinary action under the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Represented employees: Full implementation of the policy and available actions that may be taken for non-compliance by represented employees is subject to completion of the meet and confer process, currently in progress with our union partners.
  • Non-represented employees, including auxiliary employees: You could be subject to discipline after September 30.
  • Volunteers and other unpaid appointments: You will be subject to dismissal.

Students, faculty and staff who have not already self-attested and verified they are fully vaccinated will be entered into testing protocol in the coming weeks. You will be removed from testing protocols after you have self-attested and provided documentation that you are fully vaccinated.

The vaccination numbers we have been receiving as a university are promising. As of this morning, August 9, nearly 60 percent of the student population has submitted their attestation, with 94 percent of the students attesting that they are vaccinated. More than 80 percent of our faculty and staff have submitted their attestation as well, with around 96 percent of faculty and staff attesting they are vaccinated.

I look forward to connecting with you this afternoon.

Sincerely,

Dr. Mary A. Papazian
President
