The tuition and deferral policy for International Gateways (IG) is as follows:

The application fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

• All refunds are issued with a $350 USD processing fee.
• For fall and spring semesters, 100% tuition refund less a $350 processing fee will be granted for withdrawal requests received in writing before the first day of SAS orientation.
• 75% tuition refund less a $350 processing fee will be granted for withdrawal requests received in writing until the last day of SAS orientation.
• For fall and spring semesters, no refund for any reason past the 1st day of instruction on the SJSU academic calendar.
• For health insurance, students who withdraw from the program will be able to cancel their coverage and receive a full refund if they cancel within 45 days of the effective date. 
  Effective, July 1, 2026, Bill AB 594, students who take a leave of absence or withdraw during the semester may request to end coverage. They must submit the request at least 30 days in advance. Institutions must end coverage within the same month if possible, and no later than the last day of that month. Students remain responsible only for premiums through the termination date, and institutions must issue a pro rata refund for any unused portion if the student prepaid for the semester.
• For summer semesters, no refund for any reason past the 1st day of instruction on the SJSU academic calendar. 
• Only a partial refund will be issued to disqualified students who matriculate to SJSU after January 13. 
• Written refund requests must be emailed to International Gateways Admissions at igateways-admission@sjsu.edu. 

Deferral Policy

Deferral to a future term of study can be processed with a $150 fee.
