Learn about some of our featured annual events below: 

Harvesting Indigenous Knowledge Fall Gathering (Fall Only)

In the spirit of community and relationality, the Harvesting Indigenous Knowledge Fall Gathering Event brings our Native American and Indigenous community together including students, staff, faculty, commuinty members, and alumni for a celebratory evening welcoming the beginning of the fall semester. We convene listening and featuring a keynote speaker and surrounded by dance, song, and food.


Native American Heritage Month (November)

In celebration of Native American Heritage Month and our deeply rooted pride in our culture and ancestral knoweledge, here at SJSU we celebrate this month alongside our community. These events are brought to you by a variety of co-sponsors and planner including the Native American Student Organization (NASO), Gathering of Academic Indigenous and Native American, the Indigenous staff and faculty affinitry group (GAIN), the Mosaic Cross Cultural Center, and many others.


Native Student Mixer (Spring Only)

Meet & connect with the SJSU Indigenous community including students, staff, and faculty! On behalf of the NAISSC community, we look forward to connecting with you. The NAISSC community is dedicated Native American Indigenous students, staff, professors, and community members that are here to support you and guide you along your journey.


Student and Faculty Dinner (Spring Only)

In collaboration with the Black Leadership and Opportunity Center (the BLOC), the Chicanx/Latinx Student Success Center (Centro), the Center for Asian Pacific Islander Student Empowerment (CAPISE), and the MOSAIC Cross Cultural Center, the Student and Faculty Dinner is free event that provides students with the opportunity to connect and build meaningful relationships with professors over dinner, outside of the classroom environment.


National Day of Awareness for Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women (May)

NAISSC is dedicated to increasing awareness and action for Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women/ 2Spirit+/ People. We build on the work formed by Dr. Soma De Bourbon, SJSU faculty member in department of Sociology and Interdisciplinary Sciences, who led the creation of MMIW awareness at SJSU. This event highlights the lived experiences, stories, knowledge, and activism of those impacted and committed to creating solutions for MMIW. We are deeply grateful to our past collaboration with our community partners: the Indian Health Center of Santa Clara Valley, The Red Earth Women's Society, and Washoe Native TANF Program to bring forward this important event.


Native Graduation (May)

This ceremony honors all of our Native American Indigenous student graduates including undergraduates, graduates, and certificate programs. The 2025 Native Graduation Ceremony is on Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 2-4:00 pm in the Student Union Ballroom C.
