Bio
Colleen Haight joined the Economics Department at SJSU in January of 2006. Dr. Haight teaches a wide variety of courses at both the graduate and undergraduate level. She also frequently teaches seminars for various economics education programs. Dr. Haight’s research is currently focused on the exploration of the business regulatory environment. She has also written on taxation, the economics of religion and Fair Trade. She served as the Chair of the Economics Department from June 2016 to August 2019.
In addition to her work in the Economics Department, Dr. Haight served as the Acting Department Chair in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning from August 2017 until August 2019.
Prior to joining the academic world, Dr. Haight worked in both software development and the airline industry before returning to school to pursue her M.B.A. and doctorate. She has served on the boards of directors (one as board chair) for two mid-sized non-profit enterprises that serve the needs of the elderly in her community. She is a skilled manager with a history of achievement in process improvement and strategy development and implementation in the academic, commercial and not-for-profit sectors.
