IMPORTANT: Details of each step discussed in video
- Generate a “MyProgress report” on your Academics Page on MySJSU
- Make a list of all requirements that are NOT YET COMPLETED (those marked in RED on your MyProgress report
- If you have not done so, complete PREREQUISITES and REQUIRED LOWER-DIVISION PSYCHOLOGY COURSEWORK
- Psyc 1; INTRODUCTION to PSYCHOLOGY
- Stat 095; INTRODUCTION to STATISTICS
- Biol 21 (with lab) OR Biol 65 (with lab); Human Biology or Human Anatomy (NOT "general biology")
- Psyc 30; INTRODUCTION to BIOLOGICAL PSYCHOLOGY
- Psyc 18; INTRODUCTION to RESEARCH METHODS
- IDEALLY, complete Psyc 100W (Writing Workshop) in your 1st semester at SJSU (transfer students) or in your 1st semester of your Junior year
(current SJSU student).
- Also in your 1st semester as a transfer student OR with Junior standing, take 2 upper-division psychology courses from this list:
- Psyc 102 (Psychology of Childhood); Psyc 112 (...Adolescence) or Psyc 114 (...Aging)
- Psyc 110 (Adult Psychopathology) or Psyc 142 (Child Psychopathology)
- Psyc 139 (Personality) or Psyc 154 (Social Psychology)
- After your 1st semester as a transfer student or with Junior Standing:
- Take Psyc 118 (Advanced Research Methods) – after completing Psyc 100W
- Complete other Upper-division Psychology major requirements (see Psychology BA requirements [pdf])
- Take Psyc 190 (Current issues/Capstone) – after completing Psyc 118 & SENIOR standing (Although 190 can be taken concurrently
with 118 it is not recommended)
- Complete other University requirements & Minor coursework (if applicable)
- SJSU Studies – Upper-division GE courses (Areas R, S, & V)
- Physical Education – 2 units of PE
- American Institutions (US123) – if not already completed
- University Electives (if needed to meet minimum 120 unit graduation requirement)
- Minor courses – optional (only if applicable)
