Cybersecurity Grant
"The WITH-Cyber is an cybersecurity AI grant in partnership with Cal State San Bernardino
(CSUSB) and Fresno State, San José State University hopes to address the shortage
of cybersecurity professionals by promoting cybersecurity education programs that
will result in the development of a skilled workforce.
This collaborative effort will also involve key stakeholders, with the mission to
nurture and increase the number of skilled cybersecurity workers for the future. The
effort will take place throughout California in all levels of education, from K-12
to community colleges and four-year universities."

The SJSU team is led by PI Melody Moh (Professor and Chair of Computer Science, College of Science) and co-PI Xiao Xu (Assoc. Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, Charles W. Davidson of College of Engineering). Our efforts include the following:
- Re-designation of CAE (Center for Academic Excellence) in Cyber Defense.
- Expand and streamline the collaboration of the local community colleges and high schools in cybersecurity and AI curricula.
- Development of elementary school (K-5) video games and videos on cyber/AI-security.
- Support other SJSU cybersecurity/AI projects, including the Silicon Valley Digital Forensics Lab of Justice Studies and the NSF Machine Learning for Cybersecurity REU grant of CMPE/CS.
- Expand outreach efforts, including holding a new annual Summer Camp for local high school students, CyberGuardians: Navigating the AI-Enhanced Future, Women in Engineering annual conference, and various Hackathons in cyber/AI.
- Expand collaboration with industry leaders in cybersecurity and AI, including the annual CyberAware Day.
PI Melody Moh was invited to provide a virtual presentation at the 2024 California Cybersecurity Workforce Development and Education Summit, held in Los Angeles, on March 8, 2024.
