- How do I change my major?

The change of major process varies depending on the major you would like to apply to. Please review the change of major page for your intended major and make an appointment with a Student Academic Success Specialist to discuss the process further and get connected to major advising.

- When should I change my major?

Students should apply to change their major as soon as they meet the criteria. All exploratory students must declare a major by the time they have earned 60 units. Work with your Student Academic Success Specialist to make sure you take the correct classes and apply on time.

- I don’t know what major I want to apply to, who can help me decide?

The SJSU Career Center offers major and career exploration and self-assessments that are free to students and can be scheduled on Spartan Connect. When you have identified majors you are interested in, make an appointment with us to discuss your academic plan.

- I already have a major, who is my advisor?

- I took a class at another college, how do I transfer the units?

In order to transfer your units to SJSU, you must send an official transcript from the institution in which you took your courses to SJSU. Please make sure that your final grades are posted on your transcript. If you require assistance, please consult with your advisor or the admissions office of that institution.

- How do I make an appointment with my Student Academic Success Specialist?

Please schedule your appointment through Spartan Connect. Once you've logged in, you will naviagate towards the top right of the page where you will select the blue "appointment" button. On the new page, you will need to select Academic Advising under the first drop down menu and undeclared advising as your service. You will click on the "find available time" button and select the time that works best for you.

- How can I remove the UASC Advising hold on MySJSU?

If you have a hold from the Exploratory Student Success Center you need to attend a registration workshop and/or meet with an Exploratory Student Academic Success Specialist. If you have already met with us and still have a hold, please reach out via email.

- When do I enroll in classes?

Students can register for classes on their designated enrollment date.You can view your enrollment date and time on MySJSU. Please refer to the Registration Calendars to determine when your enrollment date will be viewable on your MySJSU.

- How do I drop a class? Do I need to meet with a Student Academic Success Specialist
to do so?

If you are attempting to drop a course before the drop deadline, you can drop the class yourself on MySJSU. You can check semester deadlines here. If you need to drop a class after the drop deadline or late drop deadline you should make an appointment with a Specialist as soon as possible on Spartan Connect to review the petition forms.
