Welcome to the Exercise Physiology Graduate Program [pdf]!

Our Focus

The graduate specialization in exercise physiology will help prepare students to meet societal challenges for health and wellness. This area of study provides an advanced theoretical and research background in exercise physiology, as well as hands-on experience gained through a required internship. There are 3 areas of focus in the exercise physiology graduate program.

Curriculum

The curriculum prepares students for a variety of careers, including corporate and community fitness specialists, clinical exercise specialists, coaching for performance enhancement, teaching, and research.

"I chose to pursue my Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology at San Jose State University because of the tremendous class of instructors, as well as the long-standing history that SJSU has with physical education. My professors have been excellent at inspiring and nurturing my quest for knowledge, as well as providing opportunities in which I can further expand my understanding.

Attending San Jose State University also enables me to continue to help out my community at the Timpany Center, a non-profit therapeutic recreational facility provided in part by the San Jose State University Research Foundation. It is here that I am able to apply my knowledge learned in the classroom to help others on their journey in health and wellness."
