Dean of the Lurie College of Education Search
San Jose State University has launched a nationwide search for the new dean of the Connie L. Lurie College of Education. The executive search firm Isaacson, Miller has been retained to assist in the process and will collaborate closely with the appointed search committee.
Position Announcement
Reporting to the Provost, the Dean serves as the senior administrator for the Connie L. Lurie College of Education, providing leadership and strategic direction for its programs and departments. The Dean collaborates with faculty, staff, students, and university leadership to define and implement an innovative vision, positioning the College as a national and international leader in 21st-century education.
The Dean oversees strategic planning, student success initiatives, accreditation, enrollment management, academic program planning, curriculum assessment, and faculty and staff recruitment, evaluation, and development. Additional responsibilities include budgeting, resource allocation, facility management, and fostering a culture of scholarship and research.
A deep understanding of California and national education trends is essential, as is the ability to build strong partnerships within the university and broader community. The Dean represents the College in collaborations with school districts, civic and cultural organizations, and professional associations. Additionally, the Dean works to secure internal and external resources to advance the College’s and University’s goals.
As a member of the Provost’s Academic Affairs Leadership Team, the Dean collaborates with the President, Provost, fellow Deans, and senior administrators to support and achieve the university’s strategic priorities.
