2025-26 Book of the Year

There There interweaves the lives of twelve Native Americans in the East Bay Area. These characters face a wide array of challenges, ranging from depression and alcoholism to unemployment, systemic racism and poverty. Their trajectories ultimately collide at a community powwow held at the Oakland Coliseum. The book explores themes of Native peoples living in urban spaces, and Native struggles with identity and authenticity.
