Creating robust instructions for writing assignments is challenging. Often, instructions that seem perfectly clear from an instructor's perspective can still leave students with questions. The Writing Center can help bridge that gap.
Our trained Writing Center tutors will review your assignment prompt using their perspective both as tutors and as students to provide feedback on the clarity and organization of your assignments. Whether you are creating or revising your assignment’s instructions, we can help you minimize student confusion, reduce the number of clarifying emails, and streamline your grading process.
What We Review: We welcome ANY assignments from ALL disciplines across campus, including STEM and graduate classes, ranging from low-stakes writing exercises to semester-long research projects plus everything in between.
Who? All SJSU faculty, instructors, and teaching assistants are invited to submit their writing assignment instructions for review by two Writing Center tutors.
Confidential: We respect your privacy and course materials. Your submission will only be shared with the two tutors assigned to review it. We will not use your materials for any other purpose.
