Building a Thriving Community

Overview
The Building a Thriving Community program consists of three-sessions community of practice and draws on An Inclusive Academy: Achieving Diversity and Excellence by Abigail Stewart and Virginia Valian (MIT Press, 2018). Participants will explore research-based insights and practical strategies for advancing faculty success across the academic career span and engage in dialogue, share experiences, and identify actionable approaches to make our campus fulfill its mission of institutional excellence.
This program is part of our campus action items in response to the Chancellor’s Office Black Student Success Report, and organized by the Office for Faculty Success in partnership with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. We hope you will sign up for this opportunity to reflect, connect, and grow together in support of our hiring, retention, and promotion processes.
Dates
The program includes three sessions during Spring 2026: February 13th, March 20th, and April 24th.
