Every year, the School of Journalism and Mass Communications offers an assortment of scholarships for each major. Click on a major below to view its respective scholarship opportunities and descriptions.

Submit a Scholarship Application

• When can I apply?

  • Now! Deadline is Monday, October 10, 2022. Apply via the Google Form.

• How many scholarships are available?

  • There are 25 scholarships total available! Check out sjsujmc.com/scholarships to find the list of scholarships eligible by major

• How many scholarships can I apply for?

  • You can apply to as many as you are eligible for.

• How do I apply for a scholarship?

  • An infographic detailing the steps to applying for graduation can be found on our Scholarships page.

    The steps are listed again below:

    1. See what scholarships are available a.To view all available scholarships, organized by major – visit sjsujmc.com/scholarships
    2. Pick the scholarships you want to apply to and get your application materials together
       1. Each scholarship you apply to require:
          1. Scholarship Application Cover Page
          2. One-page essay discussing your academic background, professional goals, financial need, your specific qualifications for the scholarship you’re applying for
       2. Please read each scholarship description carefully as they may require additional documents
    3. Submit your application
       1. Before submitting, be sure that ALL files/documents are:
          1. Saved as PDF
          2. Include your name in the File Name

       2. Submit your application to JMC by the deadline (4:00 PM on Monday, October 10, 2022) via the Google Form
• When is the deadline?

  • All applications need to be submitted in the Google Form by 4:00 PM on Monday, October 10, 2022

• Where do I submit my application?

  • You submit your application in this Google Form.

• I am planning to apply to multiple scholarships. Can I use the same one-page essay?

  • Yes, unless the description of the specific scholarship requires additional information.

• I am not a Major in the JMC department, but I am minoring in Journalism/Public Relations/Advertising. Am I eligible to apply?

  • No. The scholarships are only available to students who are majoring in the department.

• I am an international student. Can I still apply?

  • Yes, unless the description of the specific scholarship you’re interested in states otherwise.

• I am a Mass Communications graduate student. Am I eligible to apply?

  • There are 2 scholarships available to Mass Communications students. Please visit the Scholarships page to find the list of scholarships specifically for your major.

• When will the winners be announced?

  • End of November.
