Biography

I am an Assistant Professor of Data Science in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at San José State University. My research spans two interconnected areas: applied and computational mathematics — with a focus on the analysis of nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs), chemotaxis models, and mathematical biology — and data science & machine learning, including deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.

I teach and mentor master's and undergraduate students in data science research and guide them through model development, deployment, and career transitions.

Before joining SJSU, I was a Data Science Postdoctoral Fellow at The Data Institute, University of San Francisco (2019–2021), where I collaborated with Harvard Center for Systems Biology and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital on microscopy image enhancement and clinical NLP systems. I hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Auburn University (2019), where I was advised by Prof. Wenxian Shen.
