Accessibility Tools

Accessible education aims to include and support all students, with specific attention to the needs of students who have differing abilities. Considering accessibility and accessible education from the start improves teaching quality and the learning experience for all students, reducing accommodation needs.

A variety of tools are available to assist with the creation, checking and publishing of accessible content including documents, images and other elements.

UDOIT (Universal Design Online content Inspection Tool) is a tool within Canvas that provides instructors with guidance on enhancing the accessibility and inclusivity their course materials. Before scanning your course with UDOIT, save yourself some time and use TidyUp to remove unused and duplicate files!

Use GrackleDocs to make your Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Sheets accessible. When launched, it scans the current document for accessibility issues. 

Record your name on NameCoach so others can correctly pronounce your name. Encourage your students to record their names too! This helps building a classroom community and sense of belonging.
